In Deuteronomy 6:4-5 God gives Israel a command through Moses. “Hear ,O Israel: the Lord our God the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. ” (Deut 6:4-5). This passage is known as the Shema. The Shema is essentially the Creed of Judaism. The first passage learned and often repeated until their dying breath. The Shema is also important to Christians, in Mark 12:28 Jesus confirms the importance of the Shema. When asked what the most important commandment is Jesus answers with the Shema. Thus this makes the Shema one of the most important tennants of Christianity as well.

Jesus wants us to Hear God and obey him fully and completely. He wants us to trust God and to obey him boldly even when we don’t know the path God has for us clearly. We must be bold in our faith. We must be willing to give God everything, when we trust God we see that the joy and peace of the Lord fills us. The Lord goes before and prepares a path for us. He helps us climbs the Mountains of life and he clears those Mountains we can’t climb.
